Cegin Hedyn is a community-driven initiative focused on bringing people together through the power of food. Our kitchen and canteen operate on a unique “Pay What You Feel” model, encouraging inclusivity and accessibility in enjoying nutritious, delicious meals. Run by a passionate team of volunteers, we aim to create a warm, welcoming space where everyone feels at home.

The Role: We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Chef to lead our kitchen operations on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community service, a flair for creating diverse and appealing menus, and the ability to manage a volunteer team with empathy and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare lunch for Tuesdays and dinner for Thursdays, focusing on nutritious, cost-effective, and delicious meals.
  • Lead and inspire a team of volunteers, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Manage kitchen inventory, ensuring supplies are stocked and efficiently used.
  • Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health regulations.
  • Contribute ideas for menu planning, special events, and fundraising activities.
  • Engage with our community, understanding their needs and preferences to tailor the dining experience.

    Requirements:

    • Proven culinary experience, with a portfolio showcasing a range of cooking styles and techniques.
    • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing or working with volunteers preferred.
    • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
    • A positive attitude and the ability to work well under pressure.
    • Commitment to the values of community service, inclusivity, and sustainability.
    • Relevant certifications in culinary arts, food safety, and health compliance (preferred).
