Cegin Hedyn CIC is looking for passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a community interest company dedicated to food justice, sustainability, and inclusivity, we believe in the power of good food to bring people together and create lasting change.

About Cegin Hedyn

Cegin Hedyn is a pay-what-you-can community kitchen, canteen, and allotment project based in Carmarthen. We aim to make high-quality, nutritious food accessible to all, regardless of financial circumstances, while supporting local growers and promoting sustainable food systems. Our work is powered by volunteers, local partnerships, and a shared vision for a fairer, more connected food system.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals who share our values and can bring relevant experience to our board. In particular, we are looking for expertise in:

  • Finance & Fundraising – Experience in grant applications, financial oversight, or income generation.

  • Community Engagement & Outreach – Experience working with volunteers, community groups, or social enterprises.

  • Sustainability & Food Systems – Knowledge of agroecology, food sovereignty, or sustainable business models.

  • Governance & Legal Compliance – Understanding of CIC governance, charity law, or ethical business leadership.

  • Marketing & Communications – Skills in social media, public relations, or digital content creation.

We are committed to ensuring diversity on our board and particularly encourage applications from people with lived experience of food insecurity, those from underrepresented communities, or individuals actively involved in local food and farming movements.

Responsibilities

  • Attend quarterly board meetings (in person or online).

  • Provide strategic oversight and support decision-making.

  • Advocate for and represent Cegin Hedyn’s mission.

  • Support fundraising, outreach, or operational development where possible.

Time Commitment & Remuneration

This is a voluntary position, with an estimated time commitment of 2-4 hours per month. Directors receive no financial compensation but gain valuable experience in community leadership, sustainability, and social enterprise.
